Meet Jelle, our new Chartering Manager

Jelle Vreeman embarked on his career in Rotterdam after completing his bachelor’s degree. He quickly embraced the city and its associated maritime and trade world. Jelle is 36 years old and, as an optimist by nature, he can often be found in the heart of Rotterdam. In early September 2023, he joined AMS Barging as a Chartering Manager, bringing with him over 8 years of experience as a Senior Broker in the Barging industry.
People’s business
In logistics, relationships are key, and for Jelle, they are the cornerstone of success. He strives to maintain strong bonds with all his clients and partners, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Now, he is using his network and commercial skills to help AMS Barging grow. Jelle explains, “AMS has ambitious future plans. In addition to our own fleet, we will also focus on available ships for brokering and chartering in the market. I’m excited to work together with the team on this.”
Jelle knows the inland shipping market inside out. He describes it as a “European, but close-knit community” where you can quickly make new and interesting contacts through your own network. Therefore, everything revolves around good and healthy business relationships.
“AMS has been paving the way for sustainability in the inland shipping industry for many years. Some of our ships are powered by LNG, which significantly reduces our CO2 footprint. AMS is truly a pioneer in sustainability in inland shipping.”
Sustainability
When it comes to sustainability, Jelle and AMS Barging are a perfect match. “A sustainable fleet is what I want to emphasize on,” says Jelle. Sustainability is one of Jelle’s primary focus areas. As companies are increasingly required to report on direct and indirect emissions, the emphasis on sustainable transportation is growing. With his extensive network, Jelle can help raise awareness of AMS’s sustainable transportation in a bigger market.
Future plans
Ultimately, Jelle aims to expand his team by adding more brokers. With AMS Chartering, he wants to provide the best service available in the market. All of this should contribute to an increasing trust in AMS Barging among customers. Jelle concludes, “We must always maintain a strong connection between AMS and its counterparts by being transparent and clear.”
